Heat may trigger increased swelling for those living with Lymphedema.
Warmer temperatures can cause blood vessels to expand, which may increase fluid buildup and make symptoms feel worse, especially during hot summer days.
A few simple ways to help manage the heat:
~ Stay hydrated
~ Take breaks in cool or shaded areas
~ Wear compression garments as recommended
~ Avoid overexertion in high temperatures
Listening to your body during warmer weather can help reduce discomfort and keep flare-ups under control.
Summer can still be enjoyed. You may just need a few extra precautions along the way.
